About Bright Star Respite
Our mission is to be the premier partner of choice for families seeking personalized respite, specialized services and professional care for their family and loved ones. We prioritize our clients health and well-being, delivering peace of mind to their families, through our well-trained care teams, each and every day.”
Bright Star Respite provides relief for family caregivers who constantly have to manage providing care for loved ones while juggling their other responsibilities. This can be both draining as well as physically and mentally challenging. Our respite specialists make it possible for parents to step away, recharge and take time for much needed self-care, knowing your family is in great hands.
Our Services
Our Respite Support Aides (RSA) attend community events and activities with your child. They are very experienced and eager to work with children, but they are also trained and educated on how best to support your child with any behavioural needs, social phobias or any activities of daily living such as toileting support. At the end of the community respite session, parents receive an email with a short summary of the session.
Our RSAs can come support your child in your home. Parents can choose to be present or to run some errands while RSA is around. During a home respite session, RSAs support your child with their home routine, create new opportunities for indoor play while still supporting your child to meet the goals set on their IPP or goals you would like your child to achieve. After each home respite session, parents receive an email with a summary of the session.
In some cases, parents require support with bedtime routine. Sometimes parents will be away out of town. If you find yourself in need of overnight respite, please contact Bright Star Respite and we will make the appropriate arrangements. Please Note: Overnight Respite is offered in your home & you may need to clear this with your FSCD worker for payment.
If you require support with your other children while you take your other child for a doctor’s appointment please contact Bright Star Respite and we can make arrangements. This service is offered for a maximum of 3 siblings.
Sometimes things come up on very short notice and you require urgent care right away. Please contact Bright Star Respite and we will do our best to accommodate your request. Please note: This service may not be covered by your FSCD agreement and you will need to make separate arrangements for payment.
Our Respite Support Aides (RSAs) are available to offer respite on a regular basis or on a casual basis. Families should discuss which program works best for the entire family. Please contact Bright Star Respite for more information.
