Nursing Attendant – Job Description

Here’s how you will contribute as a Nursing Attendant:

As a Nursing Attendant at Bright Star Respite, you are responsible for offering personal support, assisting with day-to-day tasks, and providing comfort and support services to children aged 0 -12 years old staying either in their own home or at one of our respite lodges. You will provide safe medical supports within your scope of practice, submit detailed daily and monthly progress reports and log all activities in our system. You are also expected to attend weekly staff meetings as well as on-going professional development trainings. In this role, you must be passionate about working with children with physical and mental disabilities. You will play a
crucial role in providing safe, high-quality child and family-centered care while embracing Bright Star Respite’s shared mission and values.

Immediate Openings for Nursing Attendants in Edmonton & St Albert to support children in their homes.
● Flexible schedule
● 7am – 3pm;   3pm – 11pm;   11pm – 7am
● Weekdays and Weekends

Responsibilities

  • Assist children with personal hygiene such as bathing & brushing teeth.
  • Transportation, medical escort, transfer, stand by assistance.
  • Assistance with meal preparation, and feeding if needed.
  • Documentation of daily progress notes
  • Write Monthly report & incident reports when needed
  • Communicate with team members and report to Team Lead.
  • Assist in light housekeeping to maintain a safe, clean, home-like environment.

Must be able to:
● Lift/move up to 50 lbs, and walk, stand, and bend during scheduled shift.
● Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Ability to work both independently and as a team in a multi-disciplinary environment.
● Be able to complete detailed documentation online and in the logbook.
● Be able to attend weekly staff meetings & Professional Development Trainings
Requirements
● Nursing Attendant
● CPR Certificate – Level C
● Police Clearance – Vulnerable Sector Search
● Child Intervention Check
● At least 2 professional references
● Clean Driver’s abstract (3 years)
● Valid Class 5 driver’s license

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Schedule:
● Day shift 7am – 3pm
● Evening shift 3pm – 11pm
● Night shift 11pm – 7am
● Weekends as needed. 7am – 7pm or 7pm – 7am
