Job Description – Behavior Interventionist

Location: Edmonton, St Alberta, and Calgary

Salary: $24 – $29 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications

Job Summary: We seek a compassionate and dedicated Behavior Interventionist to join our team. The successful candidate will develop and implement behavioural intervention plans, working closely with residents, their families, and our multidisciplinary team to promote positive behaviour change and improve
quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct functional behavioural assessments (FBAs) to identify the causes and functions of challenging behaviours.
  • Develop and implement individualized behaviour intervention plans (BIPs) based on assessment findings.
  • Provide direct intervention and support to residents using evidence-based strategies and techniques.
  • Collaborate with families, caregivers, and other team members to ensure consistent implementation of intervention plans.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, adjusting as necessary.
  • Document progress and maintain accurate records following organizational policies and procedures.
  • Provide training and support to staff and caregivers on behaviour management techniques.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Psychology, social work, special education, or a related field (a Master’s degree is preferred).
  • Certification as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Board-Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children on the autism spectrum and youths at risk.
  • Strong understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and techniques.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to working with vulnerable populations.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR
  • Police Criminal Record Check complete with Vulnerable Sector clearance; Child Intervention Check
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
